Women's rights violation in the Greater Middle East

Throughout history and up to today, women in the Greater Middle East have faced systemic discrimination and human rights violations, not only in access to education, healthcare, and employment, but also in matters of personal freedom and legal protection. This issue has become increasingly urgent as ongoing conflicts, conservative laws, and social restrictions continue to exacerbate gender inequality, leaving millions of women without the ability to exercise their basic human rights to the fullest extent. Typically, women in many countries across the region face challenges such as forced or underage marriage, limited political participation, restricted mobility, and insufficient protection from gender-based violence, making gender equality an elusive goal. For progress to be achieved, sustainable measures must be developed to ensure equal access to education and work, safeguard women from violence, and promote inclusive legal reforms. To guarantee a safer and more equitable future, delegates are urged to address this pressing topic with concrete strategies that uphold international human rights standards and empower women across the region.
